What should I do in case of a burst pipe?
Turn off the main water valve to stop the flow of water. Call a plumber to repair or replace the pipe. While waiting for the plumber: block off the wet area to keep children and pets out of there, soak up what water you can. DO NOT enter the wet area if there are electrical appliances in the water. Water conducts electricity and can cause death or serious injury to anyone stepping in the water.

Common signs of a water leak can include an unexplained increase in the water bill, water pooling around outdoor water pipes and spigots, mold and mildew growing anywhere in the house or along the foundation and exterior walls, water stains, damp areas, blistering paint, and more.
